The recipe for this tea is from Aviva Jill Romm’s The Natural Pregnancy Book. I used this tea all throughout my pregnancy and enjoyed it as something both refreshing and nourishing for my baby and me. It contains herbs that contain many vitamins and minerals and is an overall birth preparation tea. You can enjoy this tea hot or cold and it can be used during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.
Postpartum Sitz Bath
This postpartum sitz bath is a combination of herbs specially selected for their medicinal properties to help heal and pamper the new mother after childbirth. Herbs can be wonderful after birth and may help speed recovery by easing bruising, tears, and abrasions. You may use this combination of herbs for use in different preparations: sitz bath, peri bottle rinse, or cooled pads for comfort.
Baby’s First Bath
A baby’s first bath is a wonderful time for baby and mother to connect while also enjoying
healing properties of herbs. The herbs in this bath mixture have both astringent and antiseptic
properties which will help mother’s bottom as well as baby’s umbilicus healing. Hydrotherapy is
known for pain relief, and the added herbal mixture may help speed the healing process.
Vaginal Steam Bath
Vaginal steam baths are used in many different cultures to help with a variety of conditions related to female digestive and reproductive health. They are cleansing, toning, and nourishing for the cervix, uterus, and vaginal tissues and bring heat to the womb and pelvic floor. The moist heat used during the process helps to open the pores of the tissues so that the medicinal properties of the herbs can be more readily absorbed. These herbs also have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties which can be useful in reducing overall body and vaginal swelling.
