The recipe for this tea is from Aviva Jill Romm’s The Natural Pregnancy Book.  I used this tea all throughout my pregnancy and enjoyed it as something both refreshing and nourishing for my baby and me. It contains herbs that contain many vitamins and minerals and is an overall birth preparation tea. You can enjoy this tea hot or cold and it can be used during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

Ingredients: Red raspberry leaf, nettle, oatstraw, alfalfa, rose hips, red clover, spearmint leaf

Red raspberry leaf
Rich in vitamins and minerals. Tones uterine muscles, promotes effective contractions, and helps to reduce bleeding.
Nettles
Rich in vitamins and minerals, promotes liver and kidney function, strengthens blood vessels. Reduces varicosities and decreases chances of hemorrhage after birth.
Oatstraw
Gentle nervine rich in calcium and magnesium. Promotes relaxed nerves and healthy muscle function. May prevent insomnia and cramps.
Alfalfa
Rich in protein, chlorophyll, vitamins A, D, E, B6, and K, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, trace minerals, and digestive enzymes.
Rose hips
High in vitamin C.
Red clover
High in vitamin C, B1, and calcium.
Spearmint
Adds flavor and aids in digestion.

Preparation instructions:
To prepare infusion, use a heaping ¼ cup of herbs per quart sized jar. Add boiling water to fill the jar, cover and let steep at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours. Strain and sweeten as desired. Drink 1-4 cups daily.
